Seven Regions, all but the Mountain/Western Region are launching in January. Each region will have a series of events, and as the Major and Minor events are sorted, you will want to get started early accumulating points towards the series. These early events will get you dialed in for The CF Open, and help prepare your competitive spirit.
For each region your top seven events count in this fashion:
You need a minimum of three MAJOR events, you can do more and they will count if their placement is better than your minor events.
You need a minimum of three MINOR events (again, you can do more, your best will count, and major events can be substituted for MINOR events, but not vice versa).
You need one ONLINE competition (World Wide WOD). You may do all of them, and only your best placement will count.
Check out the news for your region…
Southeast
The second full year of competition in the Southeast, this year there will be plenty of opportunities for athletes in ALL areas of the region to get six live events in. The first minor competition comes in Greensboro NC at the War of The WOD’s, followed by the One that started it all, Garage Games ONE in February in Woodstock GA (Major Event). The event is hosted in a new venue this year, in a different outdoor “in the woods” setting.
Northeast
The Northeast had an awesome Fall season in 2011, and it continues into 2012 with an early start at PA’s Fittest – Second Annual in Allentown, PA (Minor event). With the early start on competition from 2011 events, it will be easy to get a total of six live events under your belt, and. Look for the same hosts from 2011 to show up with similar (MAJOR) events this year!
Midwest
For a first time series, the Midwest is loaded with events for 2012. Starting with the FIRST event of the year of all regions, the Ice Bowl is coming fast on January 7th in Green Bay. Followed closely by The Badger Games and The Naperville Games. The Midwest, with its full schedule, will allow every competitor a chance to get their top six performances.
South Central
Also an explosive first time region, there will be plenty of opportunity to get your events in for 2012. The season opens with The Crossroads Competition Two Day Competition (MAJOR) on January 28th. Josh Parks and Chris Allen spent The Firebreather Weekend with The Garage crew, building their plan for the event. It will be awesome!
California/Southwest
The California/SW series starts the season hard and heavy! LaLanne Fitness Garage Games Kickoff on January 14th is an RX only competition. This is a MAJOR competition, so get signed up to start your charge for the points! Followed very shortly by Urban WarFit CrossFit – Armageddon on January 28th (RX, Scaled, Beginner). And look for an event in the works for all of the traveling CrossFitters in the world. LAX CF may host a mid-week, easy event for all who are going to travel to California for The CrossFit Games. If we work this out, we will call it an ALL REGION event, so you will be able to earn points towards every region!
Pacific Northwest
This region went from not being a part of the Garage Games, to being a fully blown up series in no time. Competition is solid, and competitors are ready to go after the top spots very seriously. In addition these gyms are loaded with beginner and scaled competitors ready to get test the competitive waters. Oregon CrossFit Winter Games is a MAJOR event, and kicks off the season on January 14th for RX and Scaled competitors. Athletes will need at least six competitions and four MAJOR competitions.
Mountain/West
The Mountain Series doesn’t get underway until after the Open, but will have opportunity to get fully into the competition after that. Updates will come.
Foreign
CrossFit Assault in Stuttgart Germany is on the books, and Recife Brazil looks to be a likely location too!
