COMPETITORS

Back for another year of community awesomeness.  You in your box, with your buds and a few dozen of the local box athletes to join you.  You are a judge, you are a competitor, and it is all laid back… but you are competing for world wide glory!

Helena, Karena and Grace are back.

As always, World Wide WOD is for fun… and of course bragging rights.  One leaderboard will be populated during the event, and you will see how you stack up against the entire world.  Judging is done by the athletes, and the effort is kept to a controlled level, so it is easy for any box to host, and not disrupt their ongoing business.  We will take care of everything for you.

To Register yourself to Compete:

click the button on the top right “compete”

If you don’t see a gym near you then, you can click on the option “There is not a gym near me” from the list.  We can either change your registration to the closest gym or you can simply compete on your own at your normal house/gym/box/location and email us your results and video (if you want to place top ten or better).

You will get 3 WODs and a shirt.  The shirt will have 3 spots on it for you to write in your score so that you will be reminded of your scores and to set the goal to beat it next year.

Kettlebell Dead-lifts – bell between legs on the floor, stand to full extension with a normal width stance. Back to floor under control between each rep.

Youth (10-12): boys 9’ mark/girls 8’ mark, may use smaller diameter wall ball

SCORE = wallball reps x ball weightIf competitor did not get to wallballs, then the score is ZERO

Any ball weight up to 30# is allowed, you cannot change once you start

Standards:

Sit-ups – abmats are allowed but not required. Elbows touch knees with feet on the ground (don’t lift knees to meet elbows, its a sit-up) to shoulders and hands touching floor. No anchor or pinning of the feet. No grabbing your thigh.

The clean may be a muscle, power or squat clean and the jerk may be a strict press, push press, push jerk or split jerk. Bar must go from ground to shoulders in one movement and then shoulders to overhead as a second movement. This is not a snatch, it must be 2 movements.

Ground to Shoulders – anyhow you want as long its touching the floor and stops at your shoulders

Shoulders to Overhead – anyhow you want as long as you end with body (knees, hips, shoulders, arms) locked out and return the bar to the floor for the next rep.**If a beginner is doing a naked bar then simply going below the knees (bottom of the kneecap) is fine.

Air Squat – crease of hips below knees at the bottom and hips fully extended at the top

Push-up – chest on the floor, arms locked out at the top with a straight plank. Can arrive at that position in any manner needed (worming/hand release style = OK)

You can limit the number of competitors to what you feel you can handle.
You will have access to our leaderboard to enter all your athletes scores.
So no need for masses of volunteers or coordination.

We buy medals and send them to you.  Shirts will be sent to you or competitors (read above).

We will set up a leaderboard for all competitors to be ranked. We plan to allow for box and world wide comparisons.

This is going to be a great way to kick off the year with New Years resolution.

Your jobs will be to:

Be sure you have needed equipment, get the registration list from the BOX ADMIN area and create heats, run the event just like you would a WOD on any given day.

Have the next person in line (next heat) judge the person in front.  Have score cards (index card is fine if you prefer over our card) to keep track of competitors scores.  We’ll give you a score card to use – https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gtRAHQ7rt_NRkw-omzD69s6lBYoNQwc7WVC1L9kPN6c/edit

Enter them into our Leader Board.

Pass out medals, shirts will be mailed after the event directly to competitors.

Have a blast!
