Athlete Registration is SOLD OUT!

The first annual Garden State Open at CrossFit 908 is your answer to staying competitive during the holiday season. On November 3rd, CrossFit 908 will be hosting a single day event consisting of 3 event competitions with a 4th finalist battle to end the open. Athletes can expect to meet great people, win some AMAZING prizes, and be held to the HIGHEST standards. If you are looking to compete in the 2013 regionals, you’ll be sure to get your game on here!

This one day WOD competition will be split male/female. The event is for RX and scaled competitors. 3 challenging WOD’s testing ultimate strength and endurance guaranteed for each competitor. Each category will qualify for a 4th finisher WOD-WINNER TAKES ALL. Prizes awarded to ALL top 3 competitors in each category.

 

ATHLETES:

Official athlete check-in time is on Saturday, November 3rd from 7:15 – 8:15 A.M. at CrossFit 908 (located at 10 Summit Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ 07922).  Don’t be late!  The earlier the better.  Check in is MANDATORY, and you may not check-in any time after 8:30 A.M.  Athlete warm up area will be outside, rain or shine, so please bring a tent in case of inclement weather.

There is a MANDATORY athlete briefing covering all events that starts promptly at 8:15 A.M.  All three workouts will be addressed as will their layouts and standards.

 

JUDGES:

Please arrive at CrossFit 908, located at 10 Summit Avenue in Berkeley Heights, NJ 07922, no later than 7:30am.  If you did not attend one of the meetings on the 24th or 28th please arrive no later than 7am.

 

PARKING:

Please try to carpool, since parking will be limited.  Please plan to park along Summit Avenue or on one of the side streets leading up to the gym.  We will be keeping the gym parking lot vacant in the event we can perform the workouts outside.  Please make sure that when you park you observe any Police Emergency Parking signs as we are working with the town to ensure that nobody gets a ticket and the streets remain open enough for Fire Department purposes.  The town has also recommended that attendants should park at the Berkeley Heights train station to reduce the risk of a fire department hazard.  The train station is only a short walk away, has plenty of spaces, and will ensure that you don’t receive a ticket on the day of the event.

Spectator tickets cost $20.  Children under 18 & CrossFit 908 members are free.

EVENTS: (video description)

WOD #1 – For Time – 15 min time cap (tentative schedule: 9:15 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.)
1 Mile Run
30 Deadlifts (MRX-225#, WRX-155#) (MS-155#, WS-95#)
50 Box Jumps (M24″, W20″)

WOD #2 – Ascending ladder, every min on the min – 50 sec work/10 sec transition (tentative schedule: 11:50 P.M. – 1:50 P.M.)
5 Burpees
1 Clean (squat or power)
1 Snatch (squat or power)
STARTING WEIGHTS: MRX-115# WRX-65#, MS-65# WS-33#. 12 bars total. Men’s bars increase 10 lbs. per station and women’s bars increase by 5 lbs. per station. If a lift is missed, it can either be attempted again or the athlete can cash out burpees in the remaining time for a fraction of points that might determine a tiebreaker.  If athlete successfully completes all movements at final bar, can complete max snatches (1 point each) or burpees (1/100 of a point).

WOD #3 – Chipper – 10 min time cap (tentative schedule: 2 P.M. – 4:15 P.M.)
50 Wallballs to 10′ target (MRX-20# WRX-14#, MS-14# WS-10#)
40 Weighted OH reverse lunges (MRX-45# WRX-25#, MS-35# WS-10#)
30 Thrusters (MRX-95# WRX-65#, MS-65# WS-45#)
